Another step taken

Approval of Bylaws and election of The Board of Directors

Last week on January 31st, 2025 the “Constitutional Assembly” got together aiming at approving The Bylaws and electing The Board of Directors of The Hub. The meeting took place at Chemeketa College Woodburn Center thanks to the unwavering support of Dean Elias Villegas.

We had a wonderful turnout and for those of us who were able to attend in person. we had a savory lunch. (We are grateful to the Mexican restaurant El Zarandeado for a delicious buffet.) After a brief introduction the Bylaws were approved. We understand that these Bylaws can be modified and improved and they will, according to Article XII of the same Bylaws, reviewed every three years. You can read the Bylaws here in this blog, the link to the post is here.

The initial Board of directors was elected. The following are the founding Directors of The Board: (In alphabetical order) Lily Chavez, Aida Contreras-Ramirez, Brad Hathaway, Mateo Laredo, Jerry Newhouse, Jonise Orie (Treasurer), Molly Radany, Paul Slowey, Craig Strong (Secretary), David Terrell (President/Executive Director), and Elias Villegas. We also need to mention, with gratitude, those of you who have been instrumental in the creation of The Hub. Your expertise and wisdom is highly recognized and valued, we need you as an Advisory Council. You are: (In alphabetical order) Jorge Guerra, Reed Harrison, Reyna Lopez, Moses Lee, Erik Mace. Danny Morato, Teo Ramirez, Dave Reingold, Ricki Ruiz, Joel Simmons, Kevin Spooner, John Tortorici, John VanZytveld, and Ron White.

Looking with optimist to the near and far future, we know there is a lot to be done, much hard work is facing us. But the knowledge that this project will benefit many youngsters to find the right path for their successful and meaningful life is giving us the energy necessary to do it. Among the next steps is to organize the sessions at Chemeketa Woodburn Center for which a Memorandum of Understanding is being prepared. There are other sites that are being approached, hopefully in Gresham, Portland, and Forest Grove.

Stay tuned to future developments, and keep supporting this project which is your project!
