Thanksgiving

The last week of November is dedicated to pause and think about the blessings that we have enjoyed, not only during the resent past of this years but most importantly of our whole lives. Thanksgiving needs to have a special place in our hearts. It also, the preamble to Advent in the Christian faith and worldwide the feeling that the time for renewal is coming.

It is in that context that we are grateful for this community. Thankful for the Board of Directors and the Advisory Council. Thankful for all who have supported and have been part of this first year of The Hub. We have been able to help students in Woodburn, thanks to the support of the Chemeketa College Woodburn Center; and Gresham thanks to the support of The Hope Center/As Is Church. An important aspect of these programs is the incorporation of young college students as peer-mentors. We are continuing with these programs, and looking to expand to other areas.

On January 23rd, 2026 we’ll celebrate the first annual meeting of the Board and Council. We will use this opportunity to plan ahead.

The important points we need to address going forward are:

How can we focus on students’ needs?

How we can meet students where they are? (Physically and academically)

How can we provide a safe space?

How can we reach to and train peer-mentors?

I hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving in the company of your loved ones!
